Soaring Heights School received the funds in order to grow their school library. In addition, the school will also receive Scholastics points that enable them to purchase books for the library.
SHS plans to increase the size of its library, as well as the variety of its reading list for classroom application.
Staff submitted the grant application last May and were notified in October about the award. “We were thrilled when we found out,” said Rebekah Laird, classroom aide. “We worked hard on the application and it paid off.”
James Patterson, the award-winning author, established the grant along with Scholastic to improve literacy among school students.
