Soaring Heights School students and staff are learning about advent celebrations around the world.
Staff member Rebekah Laird will present “Advent Around the World”, which highlights a different country’s unique celebrations each day, to students throughout the month of December.
The program features seventeen countries and showcases their culture and history. Students are issued “passports” and have to document what they learn each day.
Some of the topics discussed in “Advent Around the World” include the Polish Christmas Spider, Japanese cakes, English Christmas crackers, and the Lebanese grain seed.
Following each lesson, students make some form of the relevant advent item and place it on the Christmas tree at the front of the school to celebrate the coming holiday.
