Dr. Hunter’s training took place on Thursday, September 21. Dr. Hunter has been a behavioral consultant for Pyramid Healthcare since 2008.
She discussed behavior techniques that can be utilized in the classroom, as well as in the home and community setting. Dr. Hunter also reviewed pragmatic difficulties that autistic children present, such as Theory of Mind, or the tendency of autistic people to struggle to see other points of view. She also highlighted cognitive strengths, adaptive skills, Cross Channel Perception, and Joint Interaction deficits.
On October 19, guest presenter Ashley McCoy will discuss practical tips for using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies to support children with autism in the home, school, and community.
